Don’t grab the polished version. The actual one. The sentence that’s been replaying in the background of your head — the one you maybe wouldn’t say out loud to a friend, but say to yourself with no problem.
Now answer it.
Take the thought you just named and give it the reply it never expected. Use the line from page two — or build your own. Make it specific. Make it sound like the person you’re becoming.
