The Science of Feeling
There’s way more to music than meets the ear. Have you ever wondered why certain songs make you feel a certain way? Why a movie soundtrack can bring you to tears or make your heart race?
What Are Motifs?
Specific scales and notes can actually elicit different emotions using something called Motifs — unconscious responses that have been programmed into us over our lifespan.
Think about your favorite movie soundtracks. Composers like John Williams and Hans Zimmer use these patterns to make you FEEL the story. The Interstellar soundtrack doesn’t just accompany the visuals — it creates the emotion itself.
🎬
What do you think makes a movie good? The acting? The visuals?
I believe it all comes down to the music.

These specific tonal patterns are the reason why we feel things when we listen to specific musical notes in combination. It’s not random — it’s architecture.

What This Means For You
01
You’ve Been Feeling On Command
Every time a movie made you cry, every time a song gave you chills, every time an ad made you want something — that wasn’t random. Someone engineered that response. They knew exactly which notes to play to make you feel exactly what they wanted you to feel. You’ve been an instrument. Now you get to be the musician.
02
Your Emotions Are Hackable
If composers can use motifs to make millions of people feel the same thing at the same moment, that means emotions aren’t as mysterious as we think. They’re patterns. Inputs and outputs. And if someone else can hack your emotional state with a chord progression, so can you. You can choose the soundtrack. You can engineer your own mood.
03
The Interstellar Principle
Hans Zimmer didn’t just write background music. He wrote emotional architecture. When that organ swells, you don’t just hear it — you become it. You feel the vastness of space. The weight of sacrifice. The pull of love across dimensions. That’s not magic. That’s deliberate design. And you can use the same principle on yourself. Build playlists that build you.

The Word is “Programming”
Modalities: The Emotional Cheat Codes
There’s also something called a modality — a specific chord progression that elicits different emotional responses depending on the dissonance between notes.
Think Harry Potter magic scenes. Ever wonder why you feel like you’re IN the movie, experiencing the magic? That’s the Mixolydian modality — it brings about feelings of overcoming fierce monsters and magical emotions, all in the chord progression itself.
The Superman theme uses the Ionian (major) modality — the hero moving forward, overcoming challenges. Specific patterns like the jump between notes makes us feel like we’re conquering obstacles.
These patterns have been programmed into us since birth, through television and movies. Composers use these scales to elicit specific responses in our emotions.
📺
TV “Programs”. Movie “Programs”. Radio “Programs”.

Really think about that word… Programming.
The Hidden Message in Pop Music
Most popular music is happy-sounding with a sad message. The beat makes you dance while the lyrics plant seeds you don’t even notice.
Go over some of the lyrics of your favorite songs. Really think about what the words are saying. Sometimes the programmed feelings engage a side of you that doesn’t serve who you want to become.
The question to ask yourself: “Does this serve who I want to become?”

You see the programming now!
There are so many ways to program our subconscious mind that there isn’t any reason why we shouldn’t be able to program it ourselves.

Don’t let your mind control you. Control your mind.
